Well water test history must now be shared with home buyers
Residential property disclosure statements in North Carolina now include a question about testing for contaminants in private wells, thanks to work by the NIEHS-funded University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill (UNC) Superfund Research Program (SRP) Center and collaborators. The decision by the North Carolina Real Estate Commission, effective July 1, requires sellers to indicate whether dwellings supplied by private well water have ever had the water supply tested for quality, quantity, and pressure and, if so, to provide the date of the test.

Stony Point Man Arrested After Brief Chase
Following a brief vehicle pursuit, a Stony Point man was arrested over the weekend by Taylorsville Police Officers. 35-year old Andrew Gene Brown was taken into custody on Saturday, June 29th. Brown is charged with flee to elude arrest with a motor vehicle, driving with license revoked and no liability insurance. He remains in the Alexander County Detention Center with a bond listed at $10,000. July 29th is his next court date.
Taylorsville Man Facing Caldwell County Charges
36-year-old Anthony Steven Wine of Taylorsville was arrested on Sunday, June 30th by Caldwell County Sheriff’s Deputies. He was charged with felony assault by strangulation and misdemeanor counts of assault inflicting serious injury and assault on a female. Wine was jailed under no bond in the Caldwell County Detention Center. As of this report, no court date was listed.

Pre-K and Kindergarten registration is now open in Gaston County, and district officials are urging parents to sign their children up as soon as possible. “Parents are encouraged to register their child now rather than waiting until school starts in August; doing so helps the elementary schools to better prepare for the new academic year,” they said in a press release.
Wilkesboro Man Detained In Alexander County
The Alexander County Sheriff’s Office arrested a Wilkesboro man on Monday after he failed to appear in court. 21-year old Andrew Scott Villagomez is charged with felony flee to elude arrest with a motor vehicle, reckless driving to endanger and failure to heed blue light and siren. The charges date back to July of last year after Villagomez was taken into custody by the North Carolina Highway Patrol. The chase ended at the State Employees Credit Union on Highway 16 in Taylorsville. Villagomez remains in the Alexander County Detention Center with a secured bond listed at $20,000. A court appearance is scheduled for July 15th in Taylorsville.
