    Newton School District’s Future Business Leaders of America Receive 2024 National Recognition

    ORLANDO, FL — Halsted Middle School and Newton High School FBLA members are still working hard and it is paying off with several students earning recognition at the National Leadership Conference.

    “The biggest moment of the night, [was when] Newton High School's very own Andrew Stone was selected as the national FBLA president for the 2024-2025 school year,” Coach Theresa Iliff said.

    The past week, members from both schools traveled to Florida for the FBLA National Leadership Conference. Members of both school groups were recognized during the conference awards the final night, on Tuesday, July 2.

    From Halsted Middle School, Addison Deroma and Evan Hutchens earned the highest placement in the history of the Newton FBLA program with a second-place national title.

    Newton High School’s Melany Rosado set the record for the highest level of achievement in the Braves’ FBLA history with a sixth place national award.

    Also from the high school, Emily Bilik took eighth place in the nation. This is the second highest place winner in Newton High School’s history.

    Iliff said, “This was the first year that FBLA was chartered at Halsted Middle School and the first time any student had placed at States and Nationals.”

    The entire New Jersey delegation include: Bryce Lombardo, Aaron Stone, Addison Hardin, Madison Martell, Sofia Garibaldi, Jourdan Franco, Jaida Long, Adam Yacuk, Anna Agnoli, Sinead Kerrick, Sofia McKenna, and Bailey Meyers.
