“We're incredibly proud of Alex Stone for achieving his dream of becoming a professional baseball player by signing with the Toronto Blue Jays.”, said Scott Zymet, Health and Physical Education Teacher at Newton’s elementary school and Newton High School’s head baseball coach.

“He had a great career at Newton and it was evident early on that he was able to handle the pressure of playing division I baseball at Duke University. His work ethic was noticeable as a freshman here at Newton and it's one of the things that I speak of every season with my team," he noted.

“If the best player in our program over the last 15 years can do the little things to make our team better, then there's no reason why everyone shouldn't be doing those little things. We are looking forward to watching Alex take the next step in his baseball career,” Zymet said.
