Akron Children’s pairs sunscreen with scoliosis education at Edgewater this weekend
CLEVELAND, Ohio — If you feel like hitting the beach this weekend with the kids and want a free scoliosis screening, this is the weekend to do it. Akron Children’s Hospital will be at Edgewater Park on Sunday, launching SpineScreen, an initiative to protect kids from the sun and screens for scoliosis simultaneously. Along with a free scoliosis screening from an Akron Children’s provider, the hospital system will give away beach towels and bottles of sunscreen with spine screening tips.
Hardesty Park hosting popular food, arts events in Akron this week
AKRON, Ohio – The popular Taste of Akron and Akron Art Expo events return to Hardesty Park this week, featuring more than 30 food vendors and more than 100 artists. It’s the 45th year for the events, which celebrate food and art from around Akron and beyond. Taste of Akron is set for Thursday, July 25 from 5-9 p.m. and the Akron Arts Expo will be held Saturday, July 27 from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. and Sunday, July 28 from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Wine Dive to host grand opening in Lakewood as affordable wine bar, restaurant
CLEVELAND, Ohio — Wine Dive will hold its official grand opening in Lakewood this week, bringing an affordable wine bar and restaurant menu to town. Wine Dive, 16918 Detroit Avenue, took over the space formerly occupied by El Carnicero, which closed earlier this year. It’s the latest project from restauranteur Dan Deagan, who owns and operates Lakewood and Beachwood truck parks, Humble Wine Bar and Dive Bar Cleveland. He previously ran Deagan’s in Lakewood, which closed last year and is now home to Solstice restaurant and bar.
