Is someone missing an emu? Contact Newtown Township Police.

The police department on Thursday night broke through all the fireworks posts with an alert about an emu spotted in the township.

“Patrol has encountered an Emu wandering in the area of Stoopville Road / Rosefield Drive,” the Facebook post read. “If you know who this may belong to, please contact the county non-emergency number (215-328-8524) so we can return it home safely.”

the post was shared over 100 times and folks had lots of suggestions of what may have happened, including blaming the fireworks that many set off for the Independence Day holiday.

As of early Friday morning, there was no update on the emu.

The large bird is native to Australia and similar to an ostrich. It is a flightless bird.
