(KRON) — California Highway Police reported that an officer and his K-9 partner discovered 70 pounds of crystal methamphetamine during a traffic stop in Santa Clara County.

Dozens arrested in SF retail theft ‘blitz’ operations

The incident happened Aug. 2 at 3:35 p.m. when police said a CHP officer conducted an enforcement stop on a 2013 pickup truck traveling westbound on SR-152, east of Casa De Fruta. The stop, prompted by a traffic violation, revealed that the driver was unlicensed, said police.

During the interaction, the officer noticed several indicators suggesting possible criminal activity, said officials. To investigate further, the K-9 officer deployed his partner, Rudi, who performed an “exterior sniff of the truck and gave a positive alert.”

A subsequent search of the vehicle led to the discovery of the crystal meth. As of now, no charges have been announced.
