Mel Brooks Documentary on Tap for HBO
HBO is teaming with producers Judd Apatow and Michael Bonfiglio to develop a two-part documentary on the life and career of comedy icon Mel Brooks.The documentary will take an expansive yet intimate look at the more than 70-year career of Brooks, 98, HBO said. An EGOT — the winner of an Emmy, Grammy, Oscar and Tony award — Brooks has created and produced such memorable screen works as the film and play The Producers; the films Blazing Saddles, Young Frankenstein, Silent Movie, History of the World Part I and High Anxiety; and the 1960s spy sendup TV series Get Smart. Brooks is also the author of The New York Times bestseller All About Me! My Remarkable Life in Show Business.Last month, Brooks received the Peabody Awards' Career Achievement Award for his work and commitment to broadcasting and streaming media.The Brooks documentary will be produced by HBO Documentary Films and Apatow Productions. It marks the reunion of Apatow, Bonfiglio and documentary editor Joe Beshenkovsky, who last worked together on HBO’s Emmy-winning documentary George Carlin's American Dream.“I went into comedy because of my love for Mel Brooks,“ Apatow said of the documentary. “This project is the dream of a lifetime.”
KDFW Dallas Debuts New Schedule July 29
KDFW Dallas debuts a new daily lineup Monday, July 29, with 4 p.m. and 6:30 p.m. newscasts launching, and talent changes throughout the day. Shannon Murray and Paige Ellenberger will be the new anchor team on Good Day from 4 a.m. to 6 a.m. weekdays, and Lauren Przybyl and Brandon Todd will be on 6 to 10 a.m. Judge Judge will move into the 3 p.m. weekday slot from its current 4 p.m. slot. Heather Hays and Hanna Battah anchor the debut 4 p.m. newscast on KDFW. Steve Eagar will be on at 5 p.m. and Clarice Tinsley at 6. Hays and Eagar are the anchors on the new 6:30 p.m. newscast, which KDFW said is the only local news in the market in that slot. TMZ is currently on at 6:30 p.m. and moves to 11:30 p.m. Hays and Eagar are on at 9 p.m. too, and Tinsley anchors at 10. Sports show Free 4 All, hosted by Sam Gannon and Mike Doocy, is on at 10:30 p.m. KDFW, known as Fox 4 Dallas and owned by Fox Television Stations, announced the lineup change in its morning show July 23.

FX Sets October Debut for Final Season of ‘What We Do in The Shadows’
FX will debut the sixth and final season of its Emmy-nominated comedy series What We Do in the Shadows on October 21.The series, which last week earned eight Primetime Emmy Award nominations, chronicles the nightly exploits of vampire roommates as they navigate the modern world of Staten Island, according to the network. FX will premiere the first three episodes of the 11-episode sixth season on October 21, said the network. The series stars Matt Berry, Kayvan Novak, Mark Proksch, Natasia Demetriou, Harvey Guillén and Kristen Schaal.
