Rams QB Jimmy Garoppolo Throws Shade At Former Teams

Jimmy Garoppolo signed with the Los Angeles Rams earlier this offseason, and he is loving the atmosphere.

While speaking with Jeff Howe of The Athletic, Garoppolo explained why he likes being a member of the Rams…and took a shot at his former teams in the process.

“This place allows you to be yourself, too, which is different than other places I’ve been,” Garoppolo said. “You’re getting pressed with a sense of urgency but in a good way. Obviously, everyone wants to win. Everyone wants to perform well. They do it in the right way here. They push you positively. There’s just a lot of good things going on, man. I’m enjoying every bit of it. Even the meetings are a good time. Everything is going good right now.”

Prior to joining Los Angeles, Garoppolo had played for the New England Patriots, San Francisco 49ers and Las Vegas Raiders.

Garoppolo didn’t specify which team(s) he was referring to. He could have meant all three of his former clubs. Maybe he just had a problem with one of them.

Whatever the case may be, the 32-year-old is clearly much more content in his new surroundings.

Can Jimmy Garoppolo rebound with the Rams?

Last offseason, Garoppolo signed a three-year deal with the Raiders with the hope that he would be their starting quarterback for the foreseeable future.

Instead, Garoppolo was benched midway through the year and was ultimately released by Las Vegas in March after violating the NFL’s performance-enhancing drugs policy.

Garoppolo played in just seven games and made six starts for the Raiders in 2023, throwing for 1,205 yards, seven touchdowns and nine interceptions.

Of course, the veteran is most known for his six-year run with the 49ers, which included a run all the way to the Super Bowl during the 2019-20 campaign.

That season, Garoppolo totaled 3,978 yards, 27 touchdowns and 13 picks while completing 69.1 percent of his passes and posting a passer rating of 102. It marks the best year of his career to date.

It seems relatively safe to say that we may never see that version of Jimmy Garoppolo again, but he may at least serve as a capable backup for Rams star Matthew Stafford.
