4 Potential Trade Targets the Philadelphia Eagles Should Pursue

The Philadelphia Eagles had a mysterious season in 203. From the start of the campaign all the way until Week 13, it looked like they would steamroll any opposition in their sight. After starting 10-1, the Eagles finished the season losing five of their last six games and, with it, any confidence they had in restoring winning football.

As Philadelphia made its way to the playoffs on the back of an outstanding start to the season, the Wild Card Round against the Buccaneers was just a mere formality. Tampa Bay crushed them, and their hopes of returning to the Super Bowl were gone.

Once the season ended and the dust settled, Philadelphia lost two of its big players to retirement: forever Eagles legend and former center, Jason Kelce, and defensive tackle, Fletcher Cox.

The Eagles should look to address these holes along with other positions in need of depth.

    Treylon Burks, WR, Tennessee Titans

Heading into the 2024 season, the Eagles signed DeVante Parker after he was released by the Patriots in March. Parker would have been the third receiving option behind the exceptional duo of A.J. Brown and DeVonta Smith, but in May, Parker announced his retirement.

Now, the Eagles may need to look for options once again, and Tennessee Titans receiver Treylon Burks seems like a good fit. Burks hasn’t thrived during his time in Tennessee, but the 2022 first-round pick has the potential to improve, and a change to a better offensive system may just be what he was missing.

Cesar Ruiz, C, New Orleans Saints

Cesar Ruiz finds himself in this conversation mainly because the Eagles have to deal with the loss of Kelce in the center position. Philadelphia currently has Cam Jurgens, who was drafted in 2022, but there is a lack of experience there.

Ruiz could provide the Eagles with what they are looking for, especially with their famous ‘Tush Push’ play that was perfected with Kelce. Ruiz has been efficient in the position, giving up just five sacks last year.

    Jonathan Allen, DL, Washington Commanders

This trade seems unlikely for the Eagles mostly because Jonathan Allen plays for the Commanders, who are in the same division. Such trades usually do not take place, but that is not to say that they never materialize.

Philadelphia could use the services of Allen with the departure of Cox, who was an absolute beast for them. Even though the Eagles have quality players inside the defensive line, the addition of Allen could prove essential.

Moreover, there may be a possibility that the Commanders are looking to move on from Allen if the price is right. Washington has extended Daron Payne’s contract for a further four years and drafted Jer’Zhan Newton for the future.

Patrick Surtain II, CB, Denver Broncos

Another move that looks difficult but could prove to be a huge one if it materializes. The Eagles could target Broncos cornerback Patrick Surtain II in order to add a younger and more dynamic player to their secondary.

Philadelphia is already a stacked team looking to overcome last season’s failure by going deep into the playoffs and possibly reaching yet another Super Bowl. Surtain is a two-time Pro Bowler and a quality defender to add to the roster.

Whether the Broncos will let their star player go is another question. But since Denver is rebuilding with a rookie quarterback set to take charge, they may be willing to listen if the offer is good.
