Broncos Playmaker Earns Great Reaction After Major Catch

Denver Broncos wide receiver Tim Patrick has missed each of the last two seasons with major injuries. In 2022, he was sidelined with a torn ACL. Last year, he tore his Achilles.

Now, Patrick appears ready to return to the Broncos’ offense, and the veteran made his first catch in over two years during Denver’s preseason opener against the Indianapolis Colts this past Sunday.

The grab went for 14 yards and actually ended in a penalty after Patrick taunted the defense.

However, Patrick’s teammates had no issue with the flag.

“All of us in the huddle were like, ‘It’s his first catch in two years, man,'” said Courtland Sutton, via Parker Gabriel of The Denver Post . “Do what you want to do. You want to do a backflip after you caught that joint, you could have. It was just so exciting to see him back out there in his element. He’s been working his butt off, he’s been practicing really well and to see him get that first catch in a game, it was really dope to see.”

Patrick was once one of the top pass-catchers in the Broncos’ aerial attack. The undrafted receiver out of Utah entered the NFL in 2018, and after a couple of lackluster seasons to begin his career, he broke out in 2020, hauling in 51 receptions for 742 yards and six touchdowns. He then posted similar numbers in 2021, snaring 53 balls for 734 yards and five scores.

Injuries have derailed his career ever since.

“I’m excited for him. I think he’s going to have a really good year this year,” added Sutton.

The Broncos’ offense should certainly be interesting in 2024

The Broncos may not be one of the best offensive teams this coming season, but they may be one of the more interesting clubs to watch on that side of the ball.

Why? Because rookie quarterback Bo Nix will (probably) be making his debut at some point in 2024, and he actually has a rather interesting set of receivers at his disposal.

Yes, there are Sutton and Patrick, but Denver also has free-agent addition Josh Reynolds and second-year speedster Marvin Mims Jr.

It’s not exactly the Houston Texans, but the Broncos at least have some talent at the wide receiver position, which could make life a bit easier for Nix heading into his first season.

We’ll see if Patrick can carve out a role in Denver’s passing attack once again.
