New York Giants Could Trade Daniel Jones’ Favorite Receiver

As the New York Giants prepare for the 2024 season, they are working on figuring out what their roster will look like for Week 1.

This offseason, the Giants saw some major changes on their offense, as Saquon Barkley went to the Philadelphia Eagles in free agency. Barkley was such a major piece of the offense for the Giants, and he will certainly be missed.

Since Barkley is no longer on the team, the Giants will be relying on Daniel Jones and the passing attack to do more. This feels like a make-or-break season for Jones. The Giants have built a solid receiving corps around him, led by first-round pick, Malik Nabers.

With the Giants making some upgrades and having a bit of a youth movement at wide receiver, one of their wide receivers could be traded, according to Bleacher Report.

Here’s what they had to say about New York potentially trading Darius Slayton.

“While longtime New York Giants wide receiver Darius Slayton has remained a friendly face in the passing attack, he seems to be on the outside looking in as camp kicks into full gear. After he skipped part of the offseason in search of a new contract, Slayton’s missed time has put him behind the eight ball. And now, he’s fighting for rotational snaps with Jalin Hyatt, a top-100 selection from 2023 in search of a larger role.”

Darius Slayton has been the Giants’ top receiver for a while

Despite being a fifth-round pick, Slayton has had a nice career so far for the Giants. In five seasons, Slayton has totaled 220 receptions, 3,324 receiving yards, and 19 receiving touchdowns.

Slayton has led the Giants in receiving the last two seasons, but with a bit of drama regarding his contract, he could be up for grabs.

The addition of Nabers really changes things this season for New York, as he is the type of rookie who could total 1,000 receiving yards and lead the Giants in receiving right away.

In addition to Nabers being an exciting young receiver, the Giants also have Jalin Hyatt and Wan’Dale Robinson in their receiver room. Both young players showed some promising development last season and appear to be building blocks.

With New York having a much-improved wide receiver corps and a potential issue on his contract, Slayton could a player who might be moved before the start of the season. While he has been a big part of the offense for the Giants the last five years, it might be time for a change.
