1 Player Each Team in the AFC North Could Trade

Teams are getting ready to take some serious decisions as they are tasked with the job of cutting down their 90-man roster to a final 53-man roster. In doing so, some players may be let go while a few might end up being traded.

The AFC North has been one of the most difficult divisions for the past few years and each team will have to consider their rosters carefully lest they hand over the edge to the others.

Having said that, here is one player from each AFC North franchise who could be traded at the end of the preseason.

    Baltimore Ravens: Isaiah Likely

With Mark Andrews missing many games in 2023, Baltimore turned to Isaiah Likely to take up the lead tight end role on the team. Likely did not disappoint and stepped up in a big way for the Ravens.

It would be a tough call to trade away someone who helped you reach the AFC Championship Game just last year, but the way Baltimore can approach this is that their backup tight end will most likely be gone after next season anyway.

If a team is out there looking for a high-level player at the tight end position, the Ravens can get a good deal out of trading Likely. Added draft capital can help the Ravens build the team further.

    Cincinnati Bengals: Tee Higgins

Similar to the situation in San Francisco with Brandon Aiyuk, Tee Higgins is also looking for his next big contract. He has been the second-most important player on the offense for Joe Burrow, just behind WR1 Ja’Marr Chase. When healthy, the Bengals’ offense is one of the top offenses in the league, and much of that is due to their pair of complementary wideouts.

Despite having Higgins continuing to play for the Bengals, the team and player are yet to come to terms on the contract extension. Cincinnati will run the risk of losing him for nothing next season, so it may be in their best interest to get some value from him with a trade.

    Cleveland Browns: Dorian Thompson-Robinson

For the Cleveland Browns, their second-year quarterback Dorian Thompson-Robinson is now looking like a surplus to the QB room. Last season was a hard one for the Browns with the injury to Deshaun Watson. As a result, the Browns brought in two backup quarterbacks in the offseason to bolster the squad.

Currently, Jameis Winston is the backup, and Tyler Huntley is the third-string signal caller for the Browns. That means Thompson-Robinson will not have much of a role. Despite the former UCLA draftee having multiple years on his contract, the Browns may look to trade him in search of draft capital.

    Pittsburgh Steelers: Cameron Heyward

This could be the end of the road for longtime Steelers defensive tackle Cameron Heyward. Having played 13 seasons in Pittsburgh, Heyward is a legend of the franchise. However, with declining performances, and a $16 million salary to fund, Pittsburgh might consider trading Heyward to a suitor.

Mind you, finding a team willing to take on Heyward’s salary at his age won’t be an easy task.
