Chicago Bears Star Playmaker Earns Rough Take For 2024

Chicago Bears fans are experiencing a euphoria unlike any in recent memory. Instead of getting hit with cold hard reality, Caleb Williams hype has only grown after seeing him play in the preseason. However, as the hype continues to grow ubiquitously about Williams, one NFL analyst is dealing a reality check about Keenan Allen.

Writing in a Fantasy Football piece for Bleacher Report, NFL analyst Maurice Moton casted doubt on Allen’s ability to deliver in his old age.

“Though some parts of the fantasy football community saw Allen as a buy for dynasty league managers early in the offseason, you cannot ignore his injury history at 32 years old. Allen has missed 11 games over the last two seasons, and he’s no longer the definitive No. 1 target in his team’s offense,” he wrote.

Of course, Moton didn’t mention that Allen’s absence could arguably be tied to the team’s head coach implosion last year. Had the Chargers been in playoff contention, Allen might have been able to play in at least some of the last four games of the season while dealing with his heel bruise.

That said, as the Chargers were not in that situation, one can only guess. However, it is not unheard of to learn that players at Allen’s age elected to preserve their bodies in a lost season.

Recent historical pattern sheds light on whether to add Bears WR Keenan Allen for Fantasy Football

Allen has seen a pattern emerge since 2020. Every other year, he has fallen under 1000 yards, which then was followed by at least 1000 yards the following year. In 2019, Allen earned 1199 yards, followed by 992 yards in 2020. Then, in 2021, he earned 1138 yards followed by 752 yards in 2022. Then, in 2023, he earned 1243 yards.

As such, based on that pattern, Allen is in for the downcycle this year. Plus, when looking at the down seasons, those have been trending downward, as well. In 2020, he earned almost 250 more yards than he did in 2022. As such, Allen could be a must-avoid this year based on that pattern alone.

Of course, aside from looking at the pure numbers, Keenan Allen will have a lot more sharing to do this year. DJ Moore, Rome Odunze, Cole Kmet, and D’Andre Swift all could get a slice of the action.

Will the 32-year-old Bears wide receiver prove that he can do at least one more top-tier tour of duty?
