New York Giants’ Malik Nabers Lands Surprising Ranking For 2024

The New York Giants knew they needed to upgrade their weapons offensive during the 2024 NFL offseason. That became an even bigger need when star running back Saquon Barkley departed in free agency, signing with the Philadelphia Eagles, and tight end Darren Waller opted for retirement.

With their first-round pick in the 2024 NFL Draft, the Giants made that splash. They selected LSU record-setting wide receiver Malik Nabers with the No. 6 overall pick.

Nabers has hit the ground running during offseason workouts and training camp. Videos have gone viral of highlight reel catches he is making as defenders ae having a very difficult time of slowing him down.

During a joint practice session with the Detroit Lions, he was leaving beat reporters in awe. Nabers caught all but one of the targets thrown to him during those practices, torching the Lions’ defense with ease.

Will that production carry over into the regular season? The Giants are certainly hoping so, as they will need Nabers to play at a high level throughout his rookie campaign.

He certainly has the talent to do so, and analysts are confident that he will get the job done. One of those analysts is Dallas Robinson of Pro Football Network.

Robinson recently ranked the NFL rookies based on the impact they will have in 2024. Nabers was highly ranked, coming in at No. 4 on the list.

“Although the jury is still out on whether Harrison or Nabers will be the better NFL receiver, the new Giants receiver undoubtedly has more rookie-year opportunities in front of him. While Harrison will face target competition from McBride, Michael Wilson, and RB James Conner, Nabers is New York’s unquestioned leading receiver.

Puka Nacua set the NFL rookie record with 160 targets in 2023. The Giants would need to increase their projected play volume for Nabers to get there. Still, he’s the alpha in a pass-catching room that watched TE Darren Waller retire over the offseason,” Robinson wrote.

Nabers will enter the season as the unquestioned No. 1 receiver in the New York offense. There is some talent for quarterback Daniel Jones to work with in Wan’Dale Robinson, Jalin Hyatt and Darius Slayton, but Nabres will be his go-to target.

Robinson had Nabers as the highest-ranked skill position player, one spot ahead of Marvin Harrison Jr., who was the first wide receiver off the board at No. 4 to the Arizona Cardinals. Only quarterbacks Caleb Williams, Jayden Daniels and Bo Nix were ranked ahead of the LSU wide receiver.
