The Kansas City Chiefs are in the midst of a dynastic run. While the debate rages on whether or not they have earned the status of being labeled a dynasty, one thing is for sure, this Chiefs team is extraordinary.

There are a number of reasons why Kansas City is looked at by most experts as a potential three-peat candidate this year. I mean, just take a look at their resume for the past six years when Patrick Mahomes has been their starter.

In those six years, the Chiefs have won the AFC West every year, they have made it to the AFC Championship Game every year, they have hosted the said game five consecutive times, made four Super Bowls, and won three of them. The scary part is that this team seems to be on pace to win some more.

So, as we gear up for yet another exciting NFL season, let us explore the possibilities of why the Kansas City Chiefs will three-peat in 2024-25.

    Improved Team Overall

Ever since Tyreek Hill left Kansas City in 2022, it felt as though the Chiefs’ offense would never find its magic again. With the main speedy threat gone, the Chiefs had to evolve their offense and find new ways to win games.

While last year was a big struggle especially on the offensive side of the ball with receivers dropping catches left and right, this year the Chiefs have touched upon their weaknesses and added speedsters Marquise ‘Hollywood’ Brown and Xavier Worthy (via draft). Rashee Rice is in his second year now and is expected to get even better despite having had an excellent rookie year.

Even with Brown set to miss several games due to his shoulder injury, there is positive news that he may be back in the mix towards the end of the season.

On the defensive side of the ball, while the loss of top corner L’Jarius Sneed will be felt, third-year corner Trent McDuffie is already one of the best in the league. Linebackers Drue Tranquill, Nick Bolton, and Leo Chenal are also expected to step up, and defensive end Charles Omenihu is expected to return sometime during the midway point of the season.

All in all, the Chiefs have an improved roster and if everyone can stay healthy enough, then they will be the team to beat in 2024.

Kansas City Chiefs’ Brilliant Coaching Staff

It’s no secret by now that the men calling the shots from the sideline are some of the most intelligent minds in the game today. Head coach Andy Reid has always been a top offensive play caller and his creativity has helped the team draw up some astonishing plays over the years. After having made multiple postseason runs, coach Reid is now a three-time champion himself and he continues to scheme up clever ideas to get his players open.

On the other hand, defensive coordinator Steve Spagnuolo has grown in his role over the years and has developed a defense that was worthy of a top-three unit in 2023. Spagnuolo has been able to succeed especially in the secondary after developing key players such as Sneed, McDuffie, and Justin Reid amongst others.

Furthermore, many of the other coaches on the team such as special teams coach Dave Toub are also on top of their game leading to a well-coached team as a whole.

    Returning Core Players

We touched upon a few young players who have added to the quality of the Chiefs roster, but more importantly, many of the core players on both sides of the ball are back with the team. Players such as Mahomes, Kelce, Chris Jones, and Harrison Butker form the core of this franchise. All three have been the mainstay of the team and having all of them back is a huge boost for KC.

On offense, Mahomes and Kelce have such a deep understanding of the plays and their chemistry is on another level. Keeping Kelce quiet has been a task very few have been able to carry out successfully.

The same can be said of the Chiefs’ number one defensive player, Jones. Fresh from signing a new contract, the 30-year-old has come up big on many occasions for his team. Place kicker, Butker who is now the highest paid kicker in the NFL is truly deserving of his payday as he has hit plenty of game-winning field goals under immense pressure.

    Confidence & Self-Belief

It is one thing to be confident and another to be cocky or overconfident. Many players in this league have that overconfidence in their nature despite not having won the big prize. Kansas City is full of players who know what the team’s limits are but their self-belief does not waver.

This team knows what it takes to live up to the pressure, to rescue games from the jaws of defeat, and to win at any cost.

The Kansas City Chiefs are a modern-day dynasty and it will take a special effort from one of the other teams to stop them from hoisting the Lombardi for the third time in as many years.
