BUFFALO, N.Y. — Former Democratic U.S. Rep. Henry Nowak, who represented Western New York from 1975 to 1992, has died. He was 89. “On a day of great change for Democrats, the ... community mourns the passing of one of the greatest elected officials we have ever had,” Erie County Democratic Chairman Jeremy Zellner said on X, announcing the death Sunday after President Joe Biden dropped out of the 2024 presidential race.
