    Nicholas County man dead after advancing on deputies with firearm

    SUMMERSVILLE, WV (LOOTPRESS) – A domestic incident on Saturday has lead to the death of one individual involved.

    According to Sheriff William Nunley of the Nicholas County Sheriff’s Office, in the morning hours of Saturday, March 23rd 2024, The Nicholas County Sheriff’s Department responded to Muddllety Valley Road with regard to reports of a domestic disturbance.

    Law enforcement was advised that the suspect, Gary Allen Johnson had a warrant from Putnam county, West Virginia.

    Once deputies made contact with Gary Allen Johnson, the suspect fled on foot into a wooded area and was reportedly armed with a weapon.

    Johnson is said to have advanced upon responding deputies with the firearm. Johnson would sustain injuries at the scene which would ultimately prove fatal.

    The incident is currently under investigation by the West Virginia State Police, and additional details regarding the exact nature of Johnson’s passing have not yet been released at the time of writing.
