Coroner: 1 dead in Longs collision
One man is dead after a head-on traffic collision in Longs, the Horry County Coroner's Office said in a July 27 news release. Gary Johnson, a 68-year-old from Loris, died from injuries sustained in the collision. Rodgers was "hit head on by a vehicle traveling on the wrong side of the road," according to the release by chief deputy coroner Tamara Willard. The collision occurred near 931 West Highway 9 in Longs.
Deceased Georgetown Co. boater identified as 59-year-old man
GEORGETOWN COUNTY, S.C. (WPDE) — The body of a boater recovered near Hagley Landing Saturday night was identified as a Pawleys Island resident. Third Alvin S. Glenn inmate death reported in less than a week; fourth in July
COLUMBIA, S.C. — An inmate has died after having a medical emergency and falling ill while being detained at Alvin S. Glenn Detention Center. According to a statement from a Richland County government spokesperson, a 71-year-old detainee who was booked into the jail for possession with intent to distribute on July 22 was taken to a Prisma Health hospital for treatment following a medical emergency on Thursday. By Saturday, the hospital informed jail staff that the inmate was "acutely ill" and had gone into cardiac arrest.
