A Little History: Tacos in a New Form

Tacos are beloved for their bold flavors and endless versatility. This recipe takes the classic taco components and gives them a fun twist by turning them into an easy-to-eat snack. You get all the taco flavors you love—seasoned beef, gooey cheese, and tasty toppings—wrapped in a crunchy, golden pizza dough stick. It’s like a taco, but more portable and snackable!

Let’s dive into the recipe so you can whip up these Cheesy Taco Sticks in no time.

    Ingredients:

    • 1 lb ground beef
    • 1 packet taco seasoning
    • 1/2 cup water
    • 1 (8 oz) can refrigerated pizza dough
    • 1 1/2 cups shredded cheddar cheese (or Mexican cheese blend)
    • 1/2 cup shredded mozzarella cheese
    • 2 tbsp butter, melted
    • 1/2 tsp garlic powder
    • 1/2 tsp dried parsley (optional)
    • Salsa, sour cream, or guacamole for dipping

    Instructions:

    1. Cook the Taco Meat

    • In a large skillet over medium heat, brown the ground beef until fully cooked. Drain any excess grease.
    • Add the taco seasoning and 1/2 cup of water to the skillet. Stir and cook for about 5 minutes until the mixture thickens. Set aside and let it cool slightly.

    2. Prepare the Dough

    • Preheat your oven to 425°F (220°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
    • Roll out the pizza dough into a large rectangle on a floured surface.
    • Using a pizza cutter or knife, cut the dough into 8 equal rectangles.

    3. Fill with Cheese and Taco Meat

    • On one side of each dough rectangle, place about 2 tablespoons of the taco meat mixture.
    • Sprinkle a generous amount of cheddar and mozzarella cheese on top of the meat.

    4. Roll and Seal the Sticks

    • Roll up each dough rectangle, starting from the side with the filling.
    • Pinch the edges and ends to seal the taco sticks.
    • Place the sticks seam-side down on the prepared baking sheet.

    5. Add a Buttery Topping

    • In a small bowl, mix the melted butter with garlic powder and parsley (if using).
    • Brush the butter mixture over the top of the taco sticks for added flavor and golden brown perfection.

    6. Bake to Perfection

    • Bake in the preheated oven for 10-12 minutes, or until the dough is golden brown and the cheese is melted.

    7. Serve and Enjoy

    • Serve the cheesy taco sticks with your favorite dipping sauces like salsa, sour cream, or guacamole.

These cheesy taco sticks are the ultimate crowd-pleaser! Whether you’re hosting a game day party or just need a quick, satisfying snack for the family, these taco sticks are bound to be a hit. Their cheesy, savory filling and crispy exterior make them totally irresistible.

    Pro Tips:

    • For a spicier kick, try adding some diced jalapeños to the taco meat mixture before sealing the dough.
    • Vegetarian Option: Swap out the ground beef for black beans or a plant-based meat alternative to create a meatless version of this dish.
    • Dipping Sauces: Elevate the flavor by serving with homemade pico de gallo or a spicy queso dip.
