Cultural Twist: This recipe combines the iconic flavors of Philly cheesesteak—a beloved East Coast favorite—with the versatility of pasta. It’s a fun fusion that elevates both the flavors and the experience, perfect for those nights when you can’t decide between Italian and American comfort foods.

    Ingredients:

    • 20 jumbo pasta shells
    • 1 lb ground beef or steak, cooked and chopped
    • 1 tablespoon olive oil
    • 1 small onion, diced
    • 1 green bell pepper, diced
    • 2 cloves garlic, minced
    • 1 cup cream cheese, softened
    • 1 cup shredded provolone cheese
    • 1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese
    • 1 teaspoon Worcestershire sauce
    • Salt and pepper, to taste
    • 1 jar (24 oz) marinara sauce

    Directions:

    1. Preheat the Oven:
Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).

    2. Cook the Pasta:
Boil the jumbo pasta shells according to the package instructions until al dente. Drain and set aside to cool slightly. This helps prevent them from tearing while stuffing.

    3. Prepare the Cheesesteak Filling:
In a large skillet, heat the olive oil over medium heat. Add the diced onion and green bell pepper, sautéing until softened. Then add the minced garlic and cook for an additional minute. Mix in the cooked ground beef or chopped steak, Worcestershire sauce, salt, and pepper. Remove from heat and stir in the cream cheese, along with half of the shredded provolone and mozzarella cheeses. Mix until everything is well combined.

    4. Stuff the Shells:
Carefully stuff each cooked pasta shell with the cheesesteak filling. Arrange them in a greased baking dish, leaving space between each shell.

    5. Add the Marinara Sauce:
Pour the marinara sauce evenly over the stuffed shells. Sprinkle the remaining provolone and mozzarella cheese on top for that irresistibly gooey finish.

    6. Bake:
Cover the baking dish with aluminum foil and bake in the preheated oven for 25 minutes. Then, remove the foil and continue baking for an additional 10-15 minutes, or until the cheese is bubbly and golden.

    7. Serve and Enjoy:
Allow the dish to cool for a few minutes before serving. Pair these cheesy delights with a fresh green salad or some garlic bread for a complete meal. Enjoy your delicious Cheesesteak Stuffed Shells!

Pro Tip: For an extra kick, add a dash of hot sauce or some red pepper flakes to the filling mixture. It pairs wonderfully with the richness of the cheese.

    Variations:

    • Vegetarian Option: Swap out the beef for sautéed mushrooms or a plant-based ground meat substitute.
    • Spicy Twist: Add chopped jalapeños to the filling for an extra spicy kick.
    • Lighter Version: Use low-fat cream cheese and reduced-fat cheeses to lighten up this dish.

Can't wait to make this! I have shaved steak in the freezer but might try it with an Alfredo sauce instead of marinara.
