FIRST ALERT: Excessive rain, flash flooding, flooding, severe weather likely tonight
1:30pm Update- A flood warning remains in effect for Blue Earth and Nicollet County until 2:30pm. Heavy downpours added up fast as 1 to 3 inches fell in a short period of time in these areas. This led to flood reports at riverfront drive in downtown Mankato as well as a closure at lookout drive on US highway 169 headed northbound. The live doppler radar is showing things slowing down and a break from the rain for a little while, but scattered showers and storms will continue to develop for this afternoon and evening. Flooding is the main concern due to all the excessive rain not just over the last week, but just in the last 24 hours and even the last couple of hours. There is also the risk for some of these storms this afternoon and evening to become strong too severe with all modes of severe weather possible. The weather team will have updates throughout the afternoon and evening.
