Nintendo is giving players the chance to check out the new Famicom Detective Club game’s first few chapters for free ahead of the game’s release for Switch. Emio — The Smiling Man: Famicom Detective Club is launching on August 29, but Nintendo is releasing a three-part demo on the eShop. Players can check out the prologue and chapter 1 starting the “evening” of August 19, followed by chapter 2 on August 22 and chapter 3 on August 27. If they decide to go ahead with the full game (which is now available for preorder for $50), players can also transfer their progress.

Microsoft is rumored to be developing several upcoming titles and one of the consoles some believe to be in development is an Xbox hybrid console similar to the Nintendo Switch. However, according to Windows Central’s JezCorden this turns out to be false. In the latest episode of the Xbox Two podcast, Corden stated that the console will be a standard home console but will have a handheld as an add on. “I’ll tell you now: there’s going to be a separate handheld and there’s going to be an Xbox Series X successor,” he said. “It’s going to be two different things. They’re not just going to try and go all in on handheld only; they’re going to do a more traditional console for the Series X people and then a handheld. […] I’m predicting a Series X successor, a handheld, and the end of the paywall for premium multiplayer games.”
