Freddy’s Frozen Custard & Steakburgers is adding two more restaurants in New Jersey.

The retro-themed quick-service chain expects a November opening on Route 130 in Cinnaminson followed by an early 2025 launch on Route 1 in North Brunswick, according to a Freddy's spokesperson.

Founded 22 years ago in Wichita, Kan., Freddy’s is known for its signature cooked-to-order steakburgers, all-beef hot dogs, shoestring fries and freshly churned frozen custard. The franchise has earned numerous industry accolades in recent years, including from Fast Casual, Entrepreneur, Technomic and Yelp.

The brand now has more than 500 locations in 36 states across the U.S. Within New Jersey, Freddy’s has opened outposts in Linden, Burlington and Toms River over the past three years.

After Thompson Street Capital Partners acquired Freddy’s in 2021, the St. Louis, Mo.-based private equity firm said it aims to reach 800 units by 2026.

Freddy’s reported strong growth in 2023, opening a company record 62 restaurants, including its 500th location. The brand entered 2024 with a robust pipeline of over 130 spots in development, with between 60 to 70 of those slated to begin welcoming customers this year.

As of now, Freddy’s is targeting further expansion in key markets including Florida, Georgia, North Carolina and Texas. It also is accelerating growth in Canada after signing a development agreement late last year to bring five new restaurants to Alberta.

Commenting on the company’s plans, Freddy’s President and CEO Chris Dull said, "The success is a testament to our dedicated team and passionate network of franchisees who are committed to operating The Freddy's Way and ensuring their restaurants promote our three core pillars quality, hospitality and cleanliness. We are fortunate to have best-in-class operators as partners, and it's incredibly rewarding to see them open their new Freddy's restaurants."
