Keasbey-based Wakefern Food Corp. is celebrating the return of its Food Showcase.

Held Sept. 18-19 at the New Jersey Convention and Exposition Center in Edison, the event provided co-op members and retail associates with an opportunity to explore services and solutions from nearly 300 vendor partners.

Formerly known as the “Perishables Show,” this year’s expanded event included non-perishable categories, too. It also featured a 25,000-square-foot, state-of-the art “supermarket” highlighting up-to-the-minute trends in equipment, layout, dcor and planograms.

Additionally, attendees had the opportunity to learn about new industry practices, cutting-edge technology and ways to improve store operations from seminars, guest speakers and interactive booths.

Also new for 2024: Members and store representatives were able to take advantage of special discounted prices with on-the-spot ordering.

Wakefern last hosted the event in 2018.

    'Connect, learn and explore'

Bob Cerullo, vice president of meat and seafood at Wakefern, said the 2024 Food Showcase was designed to provide members “with the best opportunity to connect, learn and explore” the full range of services the company provides.

Founded in 1946, Wakefern’s 50 member companies include ShopRite, Price Rite Marketplace, The Fresh Grocer, Gourmet Garage, Dearborn Market, Di Bruno Bros. and Fairway Market.

The $19.6 billion organization owns and operates 365 stores across New Jersey, New York, Connecticut, Pennsylvania, Maryland, Delaware, Massachusetts, New Hampshire and Rhode Island.

    Mike
    Stigers
    , the co-op’s president, said
, "At Wakefern, we equip cooperative Members with the tools, trends and go-to-market strategies they need to continually innovate and deliver exceptional customer experiences.”

“This year’s showcase demonstrated our ongoing commitment to ensuring that our members have what they need to compete and win in the competitive supermarket industry,” he said.
