Jersey Mike’s Subs is taking its sandwiches to new heights with the launch of the fast-casual brand’s latest airport location.

Opened Oct. 3 at New York’s LaGuardia Airport, the outpost is owned and operated by Manan Shah, a second-generation New Jersey resident who grew up in a family that has multiple brand franchises in its portfolio.

Brian O’ Hagan, vice president of business development at Jersey Mike’s, said, “We are excited to partner with Manan Shah and his family to open our eighth Jersey Mike’s airport location and bring ‘A Sub Above’ to hungry travelers flying in and out of LaGuardia.”

The Shah family operates more than 30 successful franchise units throughout New Jersey, Pennsylvania and Connecticut for about a dozen brands, including Dunkin’, Baskin Robbins, Bubbakoo’s Burritos, Hilton, Shell, Lightbridge Academy and Circle K.

Their Jersey Mike’s footprint includes a location in the redeveloped dining hall at Gateway Center in Newark.

Other airport terminals where the Manasquan-based chain can be found include:

    • Newark Liberty International Airport in Newark

    • Harry Reid International Airport in Las Vegas

    • Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport in Atlanta

    • Orlando International Airport in Orlando

    • Washington Dulles International Airport in Dulles, Va.

    • Charlotte Douglas International Airport in Charlotte

    • Los Angeles International Airport in Los Angeles

A Jersey Mike’s store also is planned for William P. Hobby Airport in Houston, according to the brand.

Since its founding in 1956 as a small sandwich shop in Point Pleasant, Jersey Mike’s has become one of the fastest-growing quick-service restaurants in the U.S. It now has more than 4,000 locations open and in development.

    Jersey Mike's community outreach includes:

    • Raising $4.4 million to support the Breast Cancer Research Foundation during two-day campaign

    • Founder and CEO Peter Cancro's serving as co-chairman of Hackensack Meridian Health Foundation's $1 billion Be The Difference campaign
