NOBLESVILLE, Ind. — New court documents reveal that a 16-year-old kicked off a multi-county carjacking pursuit that ended with police officers brandishing firearms and swarming a Noblesville library in search of a fleeing suspect.

A previous report details how employees of the Hamilton East Public Library were told to leave the building on Monday as armed police officers swarmed the Noblesville library branch in search of a possibly armed suspect.

This suspect, identified as 26-year-old Tyler Thomas, was ultimately caught hiding inside the library and taken into custody without incident.

However, court documents detail that it wasn’t Thomas but a 16-year-old from Indianapolis who allegedly carjacked a woman in Marion and led police on the pursuit that ended in a crash in Noblesville.

According to a police report, the carjacking victim was walking up to her Kia when Spalding allegedly approached her and asked if he could use her cell phone. As the woman went to reach for her phone, Spalding pushed a handgun against her side and told her “give me your keys b****” and threatened to shoot her.

The 16-year-old hopped in the driver’s seat with Thomas reportedly hopping in the passenger seat. The two fled the scene in the stolen Kia.

Police ended up tracking the Kia via Flock cameras until police caught up and began to pursue the vehicle on State Road 37 in Hamilton County.

The fleeing Kia ultimately crashed into two innocent vehicles in Noblesville at the intersections of highways 37 and 38.

Viewer video shared with FOX59/CBS4 shows police chasing a juvenile suspect and ultimately catching him near the parking lot of the Hardee’s. This suspect matches the description of Spalding given to police by the carjacking victim.
