HAMILTON COUNTY, Ind. — An $85 million public safety center is coming to Hamilton County.

According to a press release, officials will break ground on the new facility next week. The building will be three stories high and sprawl across 108,000 square feet.

The safety center will house 911 dispatch and be home to other emergency operations. The project also includes plans for additional storage and a potential childcare facility.

“As the county grows, so too do the demands for public service,” County Commissioner Christine Altman said via release. “Even if the county council gave us additional dispatchers, we simply wouldn’t have a place to put them.”

The facility will be located on Presley Drive in Noblesville. Hamilton County’s 911 dispatchers currently work out of a basement in the sheriff’s office. They share the space with the Hamilton County Emergency Operations Center.

“This new center will significantly enhance our ability to respond to emergencies and provide critical services to our residents,” said Mike Hubbs, Executive Director of Hamilton County Communications. “It represents a major investment in the safety and well-being of Hamilton County.”

Project construction is expected to begin in August and take two years to complete. Hamilton County officials indicated “a 0.1% public service local income tax” will help pay for the facility.
