La Vergne Police Officers Return from Deployment Assignment at RNC
Five members of the La Vergne Police Department returned Friday, July 19, from a deployment assignment this week at the Republican National Convention (RNC) in Milwaukee, WI. From the department, Chief Christopher Moews, Lt. David Durham, Lt. Eric Staats, Sgt. Bill Timson, and Patrol Officer Kyler Cline participated in the deployment.
FAFSA Clinics Next Week Supporting UC Families
The Tennessee Higher Education Commission is offering free FAFSA clinics to give Upper Cumberland families hands-on support while applying for federal student aid. Senior Outreach Director Jason Seay said they have always had FAFSA workshops at high schools and colleges throughout the state but families need more support this year. Seay said last year’s revamping of the system has led to technical issues and some parental concerns.

State offering $2 million in grants for historic restoration/rehab projects
NASHVILLE — The Tennessee Historical Commission announced a new grant to help cover the cost of restoring National Register-listed historic properties in the state. Overall, $2 million is available from the Historic Property/Land Acquisition Fund (HPLAF) Grant Program this year. Applications are open now through Aug. 31.
