North Bay Haven Senior Gillian Peaden Becomes National Champ at National Meet
PANAMA CITY, Fla. (WJHG/WECP) - Just about a month ago, North Bay Haven rising senior Gillian Peaden took to the U17 weightlifting platforms at the USAW National meet for the 2nd year in a row. All she did once getting her stance, win gold in the snatch with a 67 kilo lift, that’s 134 pounds, then she followed that up with a gold in the clean and jerk, that a 86 kilo or 190 pound lift.
SEALAB aquanauts celebrate its 60th anniversary
PANAMA CITY BEACH, Fla. (WJHG/WECP) - Bay County is the home of saturation diving; a concept that has revolutionized the world. On Saturday, July 20th, the Man in the Sea Museum honored the six remaining aquanauts from SEALAB 60 years after the water vessel deployed into Bermuda waters in 1964: proving Navy Captain Dr. George Bond’s concept of saturation diving.
Enjoy stargazing at Henderson Beach State State Park Aug. 9
Join the members of the Northwest Florida Astronomy Association on Friday, Aug. 9, 2024 and view the beauty of the universe at Henderson Beach State Park in Destin. The event starts at 5 p.m. They start by setting up solar telescopes about 3 hours prior to sunset and safely observe our closest star, the Sun. Once the Sun sets, we transition to night time observing. Different size and design telescopes will be set up by dusk and celestial objects will be chosen with an eye to visual observation and variety. The objects visible will depend on the season and time of night but normally include bright galaxies and nebulae, star clusters, and planets.

Florida Dine And Dashers Busted After Leaving Purse Behind
These two dine and dashers at a Panama City Beach, Florida restaurant made a critical error after their dinner. In a hurry to escape the bill, they forgot to grab her purse. In a video posted by TikTok user @missyp711 you can see as the couple returned to the restaurant, demanding her purse, while the man desperately tries to calm her. The incident reportedly went down at a Longhorn Steakhouse in Panama City Beach. You can hear the hostess announcing a party of 14 that their table is ready, but the person recording the incident put off dinner until this scene played out with a “can I wait a minute?” Lucky for us.
