McCook Football League
The McCook Football League will again be run for individuals entering 5th-8th Grades (school year 2024-25) this summer. Due to large enrollment expected, we are asking for parents to enroll their athletes as soon as possible so that we may address equipment needs. Once again, registrations are limited to no more than 80 participants per age division. We will allow no more!! The cost will be $100.00 per player. You can pick up MFL brochures at McCook High School, the Sports Shoppe, Coyote Country, or McCook Lettering.
John Deere mower theft from Holdrege business under investigation
Holdrege, Neb. — Law enforcement in Phelps County is currently investigating a theft case where a mower was stolen from a Holdrege business place. The Phelps County Sheriff’s Office said on Tuesday that they are seeking information related to a theft that occurred at Landmark Implement located just west of Holdrege between April 5 and April 26, 2024.

Jakeob Stewart Competes in Intercollegiate Horse Show
Jakeob Stewart, son of Brian and Megan Stewart, is competing for Colby Community College on May 3 at the Intercollegiate Horse Show Association, in Mill Spring, North Carolina. He will be showing in the beginner horsemanship division. Stewart is a 2022 graduate of Uniontown High School.

NV Junior High relay team brings home the bronze
4x200 Relay Teams from left to right - Andrea Meraz, Kylee Ledbetter, Rene' Horacek, Annika McKinney. The Northern Valley Middle School girls traveled to Quinter, KS, to compete in the 43rd Annual Quinter MS Invitational with 15 other schools. The weather was unpredictable between warm, cold, windy and rainy. The Lady Huskies saw some tough competition but worked hard to set personal records and earn a few medals. The 4x200 relay team of Andrea Meraz, Kylee Ledbetter, Rene’ Horacek and Annika McKinney had a good day placing third out of thirteen teams.
