PORTSMOUTH, Va. (WAVY) – Most students attending public school in Hampton Roads will return to school in August this year. Only two local school districts in the WAVY viewing area, Accomack and Chesapeake, are returning after Labor Day.
Two local school districts approved a pre Labor Day start for the first time, for the upcoming 2024-2025 school year: Portsmouth and Suffolk. Norfolk Public Schools is on the other end of the spectrum. The school board approved a start date of Aug. 19 this year.
