Current Longwood Professor Dr. Elise Green, a two-time graduate of Old Dominion University, has been named among the Alumni Association’s 2024 Class of 40 Under 40.

Members of this year’s cohort, selected based on rigorous criteria, are chosen for demonstrating excellence in achievement and service and for making an impact in business, research, leadership, education and their communities.

According to the ODU Alumni Association, honorees “are trailblazers in their respective fields and have achieved exceptional feats, creating an indelible legacy all before the age of 40.”

Green earned both her B.S. and her Ph.D. from Old Dominion University. She is an accomplished educator who holds various leadership roles at Longwood University as well as in her surrounding community in Southside Virginia.

In addition to her work as an Assistant Professor of English and Writing at Longwood, Green serves as the Faculty Consultant for Teaching Writing in Longwood’s Center for Faculty Enrichment. She is the Writing Coordinator for the Civitae Core Curriculum, a member of the University’s QEP Advisory Board, a first-year student coach, and a campus ally for first-generation college students. Additionally, she is a recent recipient of the Longwood University Citizen Leader Award.

Dr. Green boasts a growing list of publications and has been an invited speaker to a variety of conferences and events. In addition, she is an elected representative on her local school board, the scholarship and altruism chair for the local chapter of Alpha Delta Kappa, and an active member of Midway Baptist Church.

“Old Dominion University Monarchs are some of the most impactful leaders in their communities and across the globe,” said Dr. Krista Harrell, Associate Vice President for the Office of Alumni Relations.
