    Police: 14-year-old boy charged in overnight shooting

    NORFOLK, Va. (WAVY) – A 14-year-old boy has been taken into custody in connection with an overnight shooting, according to Norfolk police.

    Tuesday around 1:30 a.m., officers responded to the 900 block of Newell Avenue for the report of a shooting victim.

    When officers arrived on the scene, they found a 45-year-old man suffering from a gunshot wound. The man was taken to the hospital and treated for non life-threatening injuries.

    The 14-year-old has been charged with malicious wounding, use of a firearm, and possession of a firearm by a juvenile.
