Prep sports recap for Feb. 20, 2024

PEORIA, Ill. (WMBD/WYZZ) — Olivia Corson scored 23 points and Ali Ince added 17 to lead Normal Community to a 70-50 win over United Township in the class 4A girls basketball sectional semifinals at Normal West High School on Tuesday.

Normal will play Alton in Thursday night’s sectional championship.

Elsewhere, Morton beat Washington, 40-34, to advance to the East Peoria sectional championship where it will play No. 1 Lincoln on Thursday. The Railers advanced by beating Kankakee.

Notre Dame and Dee-Mack will meet for the 2A Canton sectional title Thursday. The Irish beat Central Catholic, 66-31, and the chiefs beat Canton, 44-34, in semifinal games.

In class 1A, Illini Bluffs and Abingdon-Avon won semifinals at the Bushnell sectional and will play for the sectional title Thursday. Peoria Heights and LeRoy were beaten in their semifinal games at the Colfax sectional.
