Oklahoma is on the heels of adding a big-time playmaker over other College Football Playoff competitors

Head coach Brent Venables and the Oklahoma Sooners are on a mission, and some of the latest signing projections show that as they gear up for the 2024 college football season.

With the season almost here, the only recruiting class that really matters now is the next one, and the one after that, and so on. The Sooners' 2025 class, they are loaded with a ton of talent. According to 24/7 Sports , the Sooners have the sixth overall class for 2025, and the third overall class in the SEC.

Those are the type of recruiting numbers that a school entering the SEC needs if they want to not only compete within the conference but compete for a national championship as well. Rivals have the Sooners in the fifth overall class, while no other outlet has the Sooners below the 10th overall class.

And soon, that could only get better.

In college football, there are plenty of sites and tools that people use to determine who will likely go to one certain school. One of those tools is called the Recruiting Prediction Machine, or RPM. This tool gives an accurate prediction for all of the schools that one recruit may pick.

The Sooners popped up as a big-time name in the recent RPM tool.

According to On3 , the Sooners have a 91% chance to sign the No. 84 player in the country by 24/7 standards in Cortez Mills, a four-star wide receiver from Homestead, Florida, where he plays for Homestead High School. His top five schools are LSU, Nebraska, Clemson, Florida, and Oklahoma.

Mills, a dynamic playmaker at the high school level, is set to make his commitment on July 1, where, if the Sooners grab him, would mean that they have beat out several other big-time schools. This isn't the first wide receiver they are trying to keep away from another big school. And, other big schools do the same to Oklahoma . The recruiting scene is treacherous, and it's every man for himself.

Mills could be a great weapon for Jackson Arnold in the future, where the wide receiver room is super talented. If you ask me, it's a perfect fit. The nation's No. 15 receiver, who stands at 6'1" would look great in a Sooners uniform.
