Monday is a huge day for the Oklahoma Sooners, as they are now officially an SEC school with conference realignment being official July 1. This means no more Big 12 for the Sooners. This means no more annually playing teams like Oklahoma State, Baylor, TCU, etc. Sure, some of that is pretty sad when you think about the Battle of Bedlam and all of the history that is there.

And, when I mean history, I pretty much mean Oklahoma kicking Oklahoma State's butt every year just about, as they have a 91-19-7 record against the Pokes. But, that's not all it's about - this is one of the longest-tenured rivalries in college football, dating back to around 1910.

Now, it's over, at least for a little while. But the happy side of things comes in the SEC, where the Sooners are in the most competitive conference in all of college sports, but especially football. The SEC just recruits better, and frankly, that's where more money is. And, the Sooners can create new rivalries, which it seems they may already be trying to do.

The momentous day started off with a bang, as the Sooners hosted events all around campus, with fireworks going off at midnight at the stadium to celebrate. And, there were even some fans running a 5K in honor of the event.

But, to me, one of the coolest things that has happened, hands down, has to be how national the Sooners are making this. If you just so randomly happen to be in New York City this week, you may see a huge billboard light up with the Sooners' logo and the SEC logo.

Yeah, the Sooners went big with this, and you have to admit, that's pretty cool. Now, it begs the question - are the Sooners New York City's team? Everyone seems to be hyped that the Sooners are in the SEC now.
