While teachers and students are preparing for the new academic year, the Bearcat football team has been preparing all summer for the upcoming season, the first under new head coach Jay Walls. The team’s first scrimmage game is scheduled for this Friday against Colquitt County High School.

“We’re young, we’ve got a lot of work to do,” Walls said. “We’re working on everything, offense, defense, kicking game… we’ve got a lot of work to do.”

“I will say this, we’ve had really good attendance this summer,” he continued, “by the guys that we’re counting on, our starters, our back-ups.”

According to Walls, this season has seen 110 Bearcats on the team.

Friday’s scrimmage game will be held at the Mack Tharpe Stadium in Norman Park. Kick-off is at 7:30 PM.
