All are invited to join the WABI Weekday Walkers as they stroll through the lovely streets of Normandy Park on Wednesday, Feb. 21, 2023 at 10 a.m. They’ll start by circling City Hall Park, then travel south along Des Moines Creek Drive. The path takes walkers along neighborhood sidewalks, toward the water of Puget Sound, through Brittany Park (founded in 1928), and down a set of stairs leading to The Cove.

Trouble in Mind is set during rehearsals for a major Broadway production called Chaos in Belleville, an anti-lynching play. The story follows seasoned Black actress Wiletta Mayer (Michelle Blackmon) who has built a career on playing the available second-rate, stereotypical parts available to her, and three other multigenerational Black actors, John Nevin (Hebron Solomon), Millie Davis, (Star Wynn), and Sheldon Forrester (Seyvon West).

Here’s our recap of the Normandy Park City Council meeting held on Tuesday night, Feb. 13, 2024:. Officer Malcolm Lee was sworn in as a Normandy Park Police Officer. His position was added to the budget early in 2023, and at the time there were two additional officer positions open. Recruiting has been successful, and as of Lee’s swearing in, all police officer positions are now filled.

15-year old shot & killed in Burien’s Gregory Heights neighborhood
On Sunday, Feb. 11, 2024 at 3:22 p.m., Burien Police/King County Sheriff’s Office Deputies were dispatched to a shooting call in the 16200 block of 11th Ave SW (map below). Police said that a 15-year-old victim sustained a gunshot wound and unfortunately died as a result of the injury.
