New Officer, Heritage Tree recognition & more discussed at Tuesday night’s Normandy Park City Council

    2024-02-14

Here’s our recap of the Normandy Park City Council meeting held on Tuesday night, Feb. 13, 2024:

Oath Of Office For New Officer

Officer Malcolm Lee was sworn in as a Normandy Park Police Officer. His position was added to the budget early in 2023, and at the time there were two additional officer positions open. Recruiting has been successful, and as of Lee’s swearing in, all police officer positions are now filled.

    Heritage Tree Recognition

Normandy Park now has six certified Heritage Trees. These trees are distinguished by their age, height, diameter, or species. This page on the city’s website includes a map marked with each tree’s location, as well as descriptions and photos of the six trees. There is also a link to the Heritage Tree application, if you have a distinctive or significant tree on your property that you would like to be recognized. The Heritage Tree program is meant to encourage public awareness and protection of unique trees as well as Normandy Park’s tree canopy in general. Normandy Park has 740 acres of tree canopy, which makes up 46% of the city’s total area. This is one of the highest in King County.
