Gouldsboro crash involving construction vehicle and SUV under investigation
GOULDSBORO, Maine — Maine State Police are investigating a two-vehicle crash involving a construction vehicle and an SUV on Route 1 in Gouldsboro. Troopers responded to the crash at the intersection of Pond Road and Route 1 just before 4 p.m., Maine Department of Public Safety spokesperson Shannon Moss said Monday in a news release.
Luxury Yacht “Kisses” Returns to Bar Harbor for 4th Year in a Row
For the 4th year in a row, the luxury yacht "Kisses" has returned to Bar Harbor. Norman Braman was the owner of the NFL Philadelphia Eagles, before selling the team to Jeffrey Lurie who bought the team in 1994 for $195 million. Braman's yacht "Kisses" was in Bar Harbor in August of 2021 and late July - early August 2022 and in 2023. She was tied up at the Bar Harbor pier on Monday and Tuesday, July 29th and 30th, 2024.

August concerts at Bar Harbor Music Festival
BAR HARBOR — This week at the Bar Harbor Music Festival brings the Margaret Mills New Composers Concert, “Folk elements to the Fore — Bartok and his Legacy,” on Saturday, Aug. 3, at 7:30 p.m., at the College of the Atlantic Gates Auditorium. The program includes “Contrasts for Clarinet, Violin, and Piano” by Bela Bartok, and Suite from L’Histoire de Soldat by Igor Stravinsky. The concert follows a free, full-day seminar of Maine composers at COA.
Fire department’s barbecue draws dozens
A bright, sunny day provided for a successful fundraising event for Boothbay Harbor Fire Department on Saturday, July 27 at Sherman Field, Boothbay Region High School. The department held a three-hour barbecue with burgers, chicken, potato chips, cole slaw and more, and activities included a dunk tank, face painting, a bounce house, raffle, and music provided by a three-piece band.
Boothbay sets Aug. 1 deadline for Butler and Country Club road work
Boothbay selectmen want the Butler and Country Club road paving project complete by Aug. 1. Contractor McGee Construction began the project last spring with an expected May 17 completion date. A week of steady rain and an unforeseen ledge problem delayed the project, but selectmen believe even with those delays, the project should have been completed by now. McGee began work earlier this spring on a sewer and water project for an affordable housing project.

Jeffrey created after selling their earlier venture to Citadel Broadcasting in 1999 for $63 million.
No charges filed against officers involved in deadly 2023 standoff in Howland
After an extensive investigation, the Trumbull County Prosecutor's office has released its findings into a Howland standoff that lead to the fatal shooting of its suspect. No charges will be filed against three officers that were involved in the shooting death of Randall Fife, who held three hostages at a home on Highland Avenue SE in Howland on August 22 last year.

Mechanic Falls family may have been dead for weeks, neighbors say
A mother and her two children were found dead this past weekend at their apartment in Mechanic Falls. A statement released by Department of Public Safety spokesperson Shannon Moss said that the Maine State Police Major Crimes Unit responded to a request for assistance from the Mechanic Falls police department around 4 p.m. Saturday, after three bodies were found during a routine wellness check in an apartment at 5 Highland Road.
