Ethics board determines Guyton councilman committed 'technical violation of the ordinance'
Theodore Hamby will maintain his post on city council in Guyton. The announcement was made during a special called meeting Thursday night following an investigation into an ethics complaint made in May. The two-man ethics board, which consists of Reginald Stanmar and Robert Hunter, determined Hamby committed a technical violation. Mayor Andy Harville read a statement from the ethics board which reads in part, “There was a technical violation of the ordinance…the violation occurs due to the language involved in the ordinance. A city official shall not use his or her position in any way to coerce or give the appearance towards another person to provide any financial benefit.”

Traffic stop and the charges that followed
Late at night Tuesday in rural southern Oconee, a deputy spotted a small car turn off SC 24/the West-Oak Highway and onto SC 59 without, he says, any tag lamps illuminating the license plate. The deputy followed the car which, eventually, turned into a driveway and was met by farm gate. The result of that traffic stop produced the following charges against Hartwell, Georgia resident Chantel Grace Price. Law enforcement records show the following charges: driving under suspension; giving false information, and no tag light.
Northside flag football hosts “Backyard Brawl” tournament
WARNER ROBINS — A lot of athletic programs are warming up for a school year that’s only a couple of weeks away, that includes Northside’s flag football program. Accurately named, most of the teams participating in Friday’s tournament are from the middle Georgia area, with the exception of Valdosta.
Murder suspect transferred back to Aiken from Augusta
AIKEN, S.C. (WRDW/WAGT) - A suspect who was arrested earlier this month in connection with a fatal shooting two months ago has been transferred to Aiken from Richmond County. Jaquarez Bibbs, 28, of North Augusta, was booked into Aiken County Detention Center on Thursday after being arrested on July 1 in Richmond County, according to the Aiken Department of Public Safety.
