    Identity of North Augusta man killed in Aiken County accident released

    One person is dead in Aiken County following a wreck that occurred July 13 near North Augusta.

    The driver of the vehicle has been identified as Jesus Trinidad-Rosales, 39, of North Augusta, according to a release from the Aiken County Coroner's office.

    According to Lance Cpl. Lena Butler with the S.C. Highway Patrol, the incident occurred around 7:50 p.m. It took place on Ascauga Lake Road near Chalk Bed Road, according to the Aiken County Coroner's office.

    There was only one vehicle involved, a 2010 Nissan Maxima, and the only occupant was the driver.

    The vehicle was traveling north on S.C. Highway 33 and traveled off the right side of the road. The vehicle struck a mailbox and a tree, and the driver was pronounced dead at the scene from blunt force injuries.

    The S.C. Highway Patrol and the Aiken County Coroner's Office are investigating the accident.
