The Yorkville Big Band is performing on Saturday at the historic Edith Farnsworth House in Plano from 3 p.m. to 5 p.m. Attendees are invited to bring lawn chairs and blankets to enjoy the concert. The Barn and Beyond 4-H Club of Yorkville is selling concessions, or people can bring their own.
Will County Sheriff’s Update Shooting of 19-Year Old In Preston Heights Has Died
Nineteen year old shot in the Preston Heights area on Wednesday afternoon has died from his injuries. On Wednesday, July 24th at approximately 3:45 PM, deputies with the Will County Sheriff’s Office responded to the area of Luana Road and Girard Boulevard in Unincorporated Joliet regarding a shooting. Deputies were advised that the victim was shot while sitting inside of his vehicle near Luana Road and Girard Boulevard. Once shot, the victim drove his vehicle down the street, and exited his vehicle in the 100 block of Girard Boulevard. Witnesses indicated that after the shooting, the suspect(s) ran west on Luana from the scene.
Streamwood home goes up in flames
CHICAGO - A fire broke out at a home, causing an estimated $75,000 in damage Tuesday night in suburban Streamwood. The fire started around 11 p.m. in the rear of a two-story house in the 100 block of Grey Fox Court, according to the Streamwood Fire Department. All residents of the home were able to escape without injuries.

Nation's Restaurant News reported today that EYM Pizza L.P. has filed for chapter 11 bankruptcy protection in the eastern district of Texas Monday. They said this pizza company "operates units in the South and Midwest". According to their corporate site, that includes Pizza Hut locations in Illinois.
OP Trustees hire firm to create economic vitality plan
Oak Park is working to bolster its economy and ensure both short- and long-term vitality by hiring Camoin Associates, Inc. to create a comprehensive plan. It will take about seven months to create the plan, beginning in July 2024. The consultants plan to visit Oak Park at least three times in that period to conduct focus groups, a community open house and interviews, and to tour local sites.
3 children hospitalized after fire at Dearborn Homes CHA building, Chicago fire officials say
Three children were hospitalized Wednesday afternoon after a fire broke out at a high-rise building on the city's South Side.The fire happened in the 2900 block of South State Street, Chicago Fire Department officials said.
