Two Annapolis Police Officers Suspended After Reporting Mismanagement
UPDATE: See Mayor’s statement below. On March 13, 2024, Annapolis Police Department (APD) officers and UFCW Local 400 members met with Tricia Hopkins, Annapolis Human Resource Manager, and Mike Malinoff, Annapolis City Manager, to discuss concerns about waste and mismanagement within the department. Due to the serious nature of the issues raised, Mr. Malinoff arranged a follow-up meeting with Mayor Gavin Buckley on May 3, 2024, where UFCW Local 400 members shared their concerns directly with the mayor.

Indian Head church receives food grant
Metropolitan United Methodist Church Outreach in Indian Head has received $2,300 from the Food Lion Feeds Charitable Foundation to help nourish neighbors experiencing hunger. The Feeding the Hungry grant supports community feeding partners by helping neighbors increase their access to nutritious food and providing nutrition education to eliminate health risks for those experiencing food insecurity. “This generous donation from Food Lion Feeds Charitable Foundation will help relieve the food insecurities that face our community on a daily basis,” Paulette Connelly, the grants coordinator for Metropolitan...
Cambridge Police Chief Advocates for Extended Juvenile Curfew
CAMBRIDGE, MD - The juvenile curfew in Cambridge is once again a topic of discussion, with the police chief seeking to extend the ordinance. Since February 2023, children aged 15 and younger in Cambridge have been required to be home by 11 p.m. on Fridays and Saturdays and by 10 p.m. on all other nights. And in October 2023 the city passed a 12-month temporary curfew. Now, the Cambridge Police Department is pushing to extend the temporary ordinance or even make it permanent.
Oxford Park Renovation Seeking Community Suggestions
TALBOT CO, MD. - The Town of Oxford is looking for suggestions on what to add to their new community park. According to a post on the community's Facebook page, the town obtained a grant to renovate the unused baseball field behind the Oxford Community Center into a useable community space.
Noise ordinance in effect in Easton
EASTON, Md. – Easton has a new ordinance in place. The noise ordinance prohibits businesses from playing amplified music of any kind outdoors between 10 P.M. and 6 A.M. That includes music coming out of doors or windows left open for an extended period of time. Town officials tell us this ordinance is in line with existing county regulations.
JMU grads filling key roles in teaching, nursing throughout Virginia
James Madison University graduates are helping Virginia meet the need when it comes to careers that are significantly understaffed including teachers and nurses. JMU’s annual career outcomes report found that more than 200 graduates from the class of 2023 found jobs in the teaching profession in Virginia, and another 167 reported that they were working in nursing in the state.
