Mass. animal shelter needs help after 23 dogs surrendered all at once
There are 14 male and nine female dogs. Twenty-three small dogs were given to a Massachusetts animal shelter by an “overwhelmed owner” on Thursday. There are 14 male and nine female dogs — all under 4 years old and weighing 10 pounds or less, according to a statement from Second Chance Animal Services in East Brookfield.
Invasive spotted lanternfly infestation confirmed in Mass. town
Millbury is dealing with an infestation spotted lanternflies, a highly invasive insect that preys on trees and woody plants, officials said in a statement. Spotted lanternflies attacks trees and other woody plants by feeding on their sap, according to the Massachusetts Department of Agricultural Resources (MDAR). The pests can sometimes affect grape, wine, and maple syrup production due to the type of vegetation they attack, according to the MDAR.

Worcester coffee shop closed until further notice

Worcester’s Exchange Street to host farmer’s market — food, music and beer
Fresh produce, fish, maple syrup and other goods from farms and businesses will be featured on Worcester’s Exchange Street next week for a brand-new farmers’ market. The Market on Exchange farmers market will be open from 11:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. Oct. 13, and during that time, the entire street will be shut off from traffic.
Painted crosswalks herald Worcester’s Italian American heritage parade
Red and green have now accompanied the white crosswalk stripes on Shrewsbury Street in Worcester in preparation for the Shrewsbury Street Italian Heritage parade on Sunday.
