Hey fellow food lovers! I recently had the chance to swing by Bonchon Chapel Hill and let me tell you, their bibimbap is a fiery delight with just the right kick of spiciness and hearty portions that leave you more than satisfied. The takoyaki is a decent pick too, if you're looking to try something a bit different.
However, my foodie journey hit a bit of a snag with a not-so-pleasant experience involving chicken tenders that were, unfortunately, past their prime. It's a rare miss for a spot that's all about their poultry. On the flip side, the lunch special with wings and seasoned fries is a flavor bomb – the spicy wings pack a punch, and the soy garlic ones are pure bliss. Plus, those fries might just be the best I've ever crunched on.
The outdoor seating is a chill spot, especially on a sunny day, and surprisingly, the buzz of the nearby road doesn't intrude too much. While the Korean fried chicken usually gets rave reviews, and I can vouch for the mouthwatering combo of soy garlic and spicy sauces, not every dish is a home run. The fried rice with bulgogi was a tad too sweet for my taste, and the radish side dish seemed a bit off. It's a mixed bag, but the hits definitely make Bonchon Chapel Hill worth a visit for those standout flavors.
