Lizzy Musi, 'Street Outlaws' star, dies at 33

The motorsports world is mourning the death of Street Outlaws star Lizzy Musi, after the 33-year-old passed due to breast cancer on Thursday.

“Lizzy Musi, a race car driver who starred on Street Outlaws: No Prep Kings and multiple Discovery spinoffs, died June 27 of breast cancer at her North Carolina home, her father announced on social media. She was 33,” Erik Pederson of Deadline wrote. “Musi was diagnosed triple-negative Stage 4 breast cancer in April 2023 and had been chronicling her fight with the disease on Instagram.”

The Street Outlaws social media page also shared the news, and it’s evident Musi’s passing has had a profound effect on the motorsports world.

“We’re deeply saddened to share the news of Lizzy Musi’s passing,” Street Outlaws posted on X, formerly known as Twitter. “She was a treasured member of the racing world and our Street Outlaws community. We extend our condolences to her family and all those who loved her.”

In addition to Street Outlaws: No Prep Kings, Pederson noted, “She also appeared on Discovery’s Street Outlaws spinoffs Locals Only, Gone Girl and Fastest in America.

“In July 2014, Musi became the first woman to win a Pro Nitrous national event at the Professional Drag Racers Association U.S. Drags. Musi was featured often in Drag Illustrated magazine and covered its February 2014 issue and was director of the family business Musi Racing in Mooresville, NC. Her father Pat Musi is an eight-time PDRA pro street world champion and renowned engine builder,” he wrote.

An outpouring of support from the motorsports community has been the overwhelming response following Musi’s passing, as Kelley Earnhardt — Chief Executive Officer of JR Motorsports and Dale Earnhardt Jr.’s sister — shared her condolences.
