David, who has been working with QVC since 1993, revealed in a Facebook post he will be returning to the show next week after stepping away for a family emergency.

“Hi, Friends! Thank you for all the kind words and well wishes for my Mom, Sarah. It means the world to me,” he wrote in the post.

“She is feeling a bit better and my brother will be with her over the next few days. It’s a slow process but it’s improving!”

He said he was forced to leave his mom’s side due to Tropical Storm Debby, which made landfall in Florida earlier this week.

“I will be back on-air this week,” he added.

The chef then posted a list of the shows that he would be appearing on.

Fans were quick to express their delight regarding the announcement.

“So elated your Mom is improving and that she has such a loving supportive family,” one fan gushed.

“Continue to count your blessings not your problems. We will all stand with you in prayer. Hoping your flight home is safe and trouble-free. As always, David thanks for the update.”

“I am glad to hear she’s feeling some better. Thank you for keeping us updated. Praying. We have all grown to care about your mother over the years,” a second person said.

“Thanks for the update David. We love your Mother. So glad she is feeling better. Continuing to pray for her,” commented a third person.

David’s return to his show comes after he posted a status saying that his mother was in the hospital .

“I’ll miss my shift on QVC tonight and tomorrow,” wrote David, 59. His mother, Sarah, was suffering from “abdominal pain and dehydration” and was in a hospital in Charlotte, North Carolina .

“I got to NC fine last night & have spent the day with Mom at the hospital. They have run many tests & have determined that her organs are fine … now we are turning our attention to her abdominal pain,” David said in an updated post, adding that his brother was also with him.

“Her appetite is not back yet but we are encouraged by today’s events. Everything is step-by-step. She is napping now and getting some much-needed rest.”

“Thanks again for all of your prayers & good wishes. I’ve shared them with Mom & she is most grateful. More updates coming soon,” David ended.

David later gave his fans a third update.

“Mom Update #3. My mother is still under the weather and I’m staying with her in NC for a few more days,” wrote.

“Thank you for your prayers and well wishes and I will keep you updated. Thank you all again!” he wrote in his most recent post.

Since leaving the show, Mary DeAngelis has been filling in for David.

Mary has been on the network since 2007 and is the host of two shows: Morning Connection and Belle by Kim Gravel—Fashion on Wednesdays.
