    Coroner IDs North Charleston Public Works employee who was shot while on the job

    NORTH CHARLESTON, S.C. (WCBD) – The coroner’s office identified Friday a North Charleston employee who died after being shot while on the job .

    Da’Twan Gatling, 26, from North Charleston, died on Thursday from a gunshot wound while at Trident Medical Center, according to the Charleston County Coroner’s Office.

    Gatling, a public works employee, was collecting trash on Bayfield Drive when he was shot. Police say he tried to leave the area in his garbage truck, but lost control on Dorchester Road and crashed into a tree.

    The victim was taken to Trident Medical Center where he later died.

    Police have not made any arrests. The investigation is ongoing.
