Warrensburg asks residents to curtail outage water use
The town of Warrensburg is asking people to restrict their water usage in light of all the hot weather, and they’re holding residents responsible. The town put out a message on social media on Monday, asking people to use their water sprinkler systems only from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. at night.
Costumed Great Brant Lake Canoe Race Set for August 10th
An award ceremony will take place at noon at the Horicon Community Center. At 1:30 there will be a kids scavenger hunt, The Gnarly Gerbil; a mountain bike scavenger hunt, and after-event party at The Hub. Police: Schenectady deli store owned redeemed food stamps for drugs
A Schenectady deli store owner is accused of redeeming food stamps in exchange for drugs. Omar Alaidrus, 23, allegedly used the electronics benefits card of a police officer posing as a customer to record a purchase of $201.15. Alaidrus then took $100 from the cash register and gave the officer fentanyl pills and Xanax, the U.S. Attorney’s Office said.

Update 6:14pm: Governor Hochul says she has deployed the NYS Police and other agencies to help in Oneida County. As the heat index rose and the potential for storms grew, a tornado has been confirmed in Rome, NY - just north of Utica. Photos from the scene show a church with its roof and steeple torn off, numerous downed trees and power lines, overturned vehicles - even a B-52 bomber on display at the Air Force base was moved by the strong winds.
